The Healthy City

On the 2nd and 3rd of November we organized the Data Hackathon - The Healthy City, at  JADS during the Den Bosch Data Week in collaboration with Hackathon Masters!

50 students worked for 32 hours in teams to create surprising and innovative solutions for social challenges.

A full working week has been squashed into two days of "hacking*, with the goal of solving one out of three challenges. Partners Sweco, Brabantwonen collective of the GGD Hart van Brabant, municipality 's-Hertogenbosch, and Welzijn Divers presented their challenges concerning air pollution, housing, and health.

After 32 hours of concepting, coding and pitching, it was about time for the price ceremony by our special guest: councilor  Ufuk Kâyha. The teams 'SOAP' (air pollution), 'Wijkwijzer' (neighbourhood health) and 'Sogile' (housing environment)

were rewarded winners and each received a cheque of €1000,-. These teams where unique in their application of (i) a full backend-frontend solution, (ii) a fully visualized connected towards multiple data sources, and (iii) a totally new method of working.

The beautiful results of the Hackathon gave our partners many new ideas for making Den Bosch a healthier city. We could not have hoped for a better result!

With special thanks to our partners!
